MPEG-2 to AVC/H.264 HDTV Real - time transcoder
Real-time conversion of MPEG-2 Video to AVC/H.264
In HDTV video delivery service with IP network, highly-compressed video encoding with AVC/H.264 is required for efficient use of the network and the storage. MPEG-2/H.264 transcoder, designed for professionals, converts MPEG-2 video stream to a highly-compressed video stream coded in AVC/H.264 in real time, achieving efficient video delivery service and digital asset management with high video quality.
MPEG-2 is used as a video encoding method for video content delivery service with the recent broadband broadcasting network, and for the IP video delivery of SDTV contents. However, where HD contents are widely spread, video compression encoding with AVC/H.264 is necessary in order to provide HDTV video delivery service with IP network such as IPTV service and VOD service, in terms of efficient use of network and storage units.
MPEG-2 to AVC/H.264 transcoder converts MPEG-2 video to High Profile AVC/H.264 video in real time. MPEG-2 Video over MPEG-2 Transport stream(TS), accessed by a DVB-ASI interface, is separated into MPEG-2 video, audio, and private data. At the same time, the MPEG-2 video will be recoded to AVC/H.264 video. After that, the audio and the private data pass through, resynchronize with recoded video, and multiplex to AVC/H.264. Then, the DVB-ASI interface outputs MPEG-2 TS.
MPEG-2 to AVC/H.264 Real-time transcoder is planned to equip the SALA-LSI, to be even smaller, and to have a higher video quality in the future.
